WELCOME
I am Jo St Baker, an Australian born artist living and working in Dunedin, New Zealand.
I am a painter, carver, printmaker and sculptor who explores the quiet beauty that is found in nature and camera like captures of the everyday.
Before painting, my passions are drawing and photography. They inform all that I create.
In my work, I like to express my thoughts on time, space, memory and global concerns by creating pieces that enable me, and you, to hold still, moments in time.
A constant too, is references to land/sea, earthly and spiritual and child/adult transitions.
My graphic style, especially in my paintings, extends from a background in Graphics, Design and Fine Art.
Quote “ It is looking at things for a long time that ripens you and gives you a deeper meaning “ Vincent Van Gogh
